About

James L. Mahaffey II is an insurance agent and financial advisor who specializes in helping clients with their insurance and financial needs in retirement.

James’ insurance background extends back to 2004, when his career started with providing supplemental health insurance coverage to individuals and businesses, and later as an independent agent focusing on the roll out of new Medicare Advantage and prescription drug plans. He later added life insurance and annuities licensure and the Series 65 securities license in 2014.

As an independent advisor, James prides himself on having the widest possible range of strategies and products so he can always do what is in the best interest of each client. To that end, he treats each client as if he were working on behalf of himself, or a sibling, parent, or grandparent.

James has a wide range of life experiences. Educated as a classically-trained musician (percussionist) and jazz drummer, he has performed for audiences on five continents, two oceans, and several seas. In addition to his extensive travels which included performing as well as humanitarian aid and serving local churches worldwide, he also spent 6 ½ years custom designing worldwide concert tours for choirs, bands, and orchestras, and religious pilgrimages for church groups.

James and his wife live in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia with their three children. He meets with clients over the phone and through video conference.
